ORIGAMI LAMP SHADES: RHYTHM BY REPETITION & ROTATION

Observing the different structures of flowers closely, one can come to the conclusion that almost all flowers are formed by the repetition of the flower leaves rotating around a center. A rhythm is obtained by the repetition of the flower leaves (*1), which are rotated around the floral axis. It is a basic principle of natures constructions and widely applied in the creations and compositions of culture.

I applied the principle of rhythm by repetition and rotation in a formal way by folding some geometrical origami lamp shades for my home. It takes some time to do this. But if you want to train your patience with creating something beautiful for your home, than this is the right thing to do.

Explanation about flowers, their morphology and purpose

*1) flower leaves: can be identified as modules. To specify each module (floral morphology) it is helpful to take a look at the floral diagram of each flower. The main purpose of the flower is the reproduction of the individual species. Majority of flowers are hermaphroditic, they have both functional carpels and stamens. Their beauty (colorful, flower shape, scent, heat, nectar glands, edible pollen) and their greatly modified flower parts can be explained with the purpose of reproduction by pollination. The purpose is to attract pollinators, such as insects to facilitate the movement of the pollen from one flower to the animal and from the animal back to the next flower. The aim of plants with the creation of the flower is to maximize the visual effect, because of that become more noticeable to passing pollinators and finally to reproduce their species.
